Why we run with Jan? (see what our teammates say)
And here's how Nicci Micco, a TNT alumna, a writer for Eating Well, SELF and other magazines, describes our local group.
"We are ... an eclectic crew of runners, walkers and joggers. We're teachers,
researchers, farmers, nutritionists, social workers, students,
lawyers, health care professionals and computer techies.
We hail from as near as the Burlington (VT) area and as far away as Poland.
Some of us have run marathons that number in the double digits; others are
steadily working up to their first 26.2-mile finish. Some are pretty speedy,
others plug along at a much slower pace. Most of us trod at a moderate
speed, depending on who we're running with. With us, CAMARADERIE is key.
We all bring something different to the mix, but we're united in a common
cause. Within just last year Upstate New York / Vermont
Team in Training program raised over $850,000 for leukemia and lymphoma research.
And, yeah, in the process we've become quite addicted to running
(some of us more than others!) Not in that psycho "the 18th mile feels just
grrrrrrrrrrrrreat!", but rather in the way that running 20 miles in the blustery
Vermont cold, with a big crew of encouraging friends-who miraculously can talk
you out of quitting halfway through your most torturous training run, or whose
serenades of 70s songs can make you forget your pain two hours into a workout.
We have FUN and it just FEELS GOOD. So does warming up with a steaming,
post-run cup of coffee and a bagel, sitting around a table with your best running buddies.
Why not come join us?"
